Oracle exec: 'No plans' to make open source products

Open source databases have helped Oracle Corp. as they give users their first exposure to relational databases, according to Robert Shimp, vice president of technology marketing at the Redwood Shores, California, company.

Shimp was in Mumbai this week for Oracle OpenWorld Mumbai, the first Oracle OpenWorld event in India. He talked to IDG News Service on issues such as Computer Associates International Inc. (CA) deciding on Monday to release the Ingress r3 database under an open source license, Oracle
